Hi BettyLynn: I was negligent in attending Curly's memorial and I arrived at Tannahills at the wrong date. May the lord comfort your heart at this difficult time. Sincerely,

I have so many fond memories of Curly and the Harnden family, especially my best childhood friend Anna. Our homes knew no boundaries. Doors were always open and welcoming. Thank you Mr Harnden for those horse driven sleigh rides in the winter that filled the air with beautiful music from sleigh bells. Thank you for letting us play on your not so safe tractor. I learned how to shift gears! Thank you too for helping Jay and I celebrate our birthdays that fell on the same day - Harrison Park or Kemble. RIP Curly.

Bettilyn & family;

We are so very sorry to hear of Curly's passing. John has so many wonderful memories of him. Curly took John to P.E.I. with him one time; the only time John was out of Ontario. John speaks of the times when Curly and he would walk from Doris' to Jane's house, with walking stick in hand.
We are thinking of you all during this sad time. May memories bring you some comfort of a great man who lived a full life.

I am sorry that you have lost this fine gentleman. He was a legion comrade and friend. I would like to attend the service but my body won’t cooperate these days. I will be there in spirit.

Bettilyn, we are sorry for your loss. We still remember the Thanksgiving that you & Uncle Curly and Ron & Ruby were in Calgary. Uncle Curly decided it would be good to go on a hike down the ravine to the Bow River. Uncle Curly was able to out pace some that were 20 years younger. It was great that he was so active for so long. Sad as he was the last in that Harnden generation.
Our thoughts are with you at this time.

Bettilyn and the Harnden Family - We are saddened to hear of Curly's passing. He was a true neighbour and friend. Although the last few years were difficult for him, we remember him out in the yard, either working in his garden or with his snowblower cleaning out that big driveway. Our hearts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. A long life - well lived. He will be missed!

Bettilyn, I am saddened to read of Curly's passing. Please accept my sincerest sympthies. Curly was the best hiking buddy ever; he knew every plant, every bird, and he seemed to have an endless supply of peppermints (which he told us grew on his peppermint tree) in his pocket to keep us youngsters happy. I still have the walking stick he made for me when I finished the Bruce Trail years ago and, though I don't hike much anymore, I think of him whenever I see it. He will be missed. Take care!

Curly and his family were my neighbours way back in the sixties up on the west hill in Owen Sound and his son Jay was a childhood friend. Curly also was my leader in the Wolf Cub pack some years later. I have often thought of Curly and his family when ever I took a trip back to Owen Sound and drove through the old neighbourhood.
I send my condolences to the whole family.

My Condolences to "Curly's" family.
A gentleman, I have always considered a privilege to have known and to have been considered a friend. He was my neighbour, he lead my boys in Cub Scouts. I have fond memories of the newspaper drives we helped him with to raise funds for the Scouting movement, his smile and the wave each time he went by. Curly lived a full life and lived it well. An example to all, who had the privilege to have known him and been in his company,

My deepest sympathy to Curly's family. He lived in our home and worked for my dad when he returned from Germany after the war. He gave me my first sleigh as a Christmas present. When my mother was in hospital, he provided a place for me to stay. Years later, I met him again when I became an Akela. I will never forget his teaching me to fix cars, or his generous and loving nature.

RIP my friend. Candy Spencer (Little)
