June 10, 2017 9:32 AM

Dear Shannon and family, my sincere thoughts and prayers are being sent to you in memory of a dear gentle and thoughtful man. I have known the Cameron family since my childhood, his grandfather and my father served in the WW1 together as did his father Ron and my brother Gord Jenings in the WW2 and remained friends forever. My most recent memories of Doug was through the Georgian Bay Symphony Wine Tasting and Dinner. Doug and Subaru have been one of our valued event sponsors for several years, I shall always remember that gentle smile when I would visit with him each year with my request for help with the event. There are so many untold stories in this community of Owen Sound about all the kind and thoughtful things Doug did quietly without praise. Thank you Doug, you were truly a blessing to our community and to all who knew you. Shannon, in days to come, may your many happy and loving memories give you strength. Peace be with you Doug.

Shannon, Connor & Jordan,

Words can't express the shock and sadness we feel although pales in comparison to what you are going through. Yet another time when a great man has been taken from us way too early! You could always count on Doug for anything..a helping hand, smile and a good laugh or straight forward honesty. Our friendship and memories of great times spent together will live in our hearts forever. Over time we pray that memories of a great husband and father bring a smile to your face and his legacy guide you as you move forward. You are three wonderful people who share his great qualities...God bless all of you!

To Shannon and family. It is with a sad heart to have heard of Doug passing on. To me he was an encouraging person and willing to help. Shannon,Jordan and Conner ......if you could do anything to have your husband and father back, I know you'd do it. But this will never happen. And now, somehow you must pick up the pieces of your lives and try to continue on. Doug was a kind, generous, caring man who thought of nothing more important than his family. Next to those were his friends. Mike and I became intertwined in that large circle of people that became Dougs and your friends. Ensuring we were invited out for the Sunday afternoon pool party or BBQ, invites to birthday parties, and at Christmas events, Doug wanted to make sure we were at least offered the invitation. For that Mike and I are blessed and thankful for knowing such a wonderful man. The next days, weeks, months, years are going to be tough, and you'll question how your going to get through them. You will, and it's going to be tough. But think of all the happy moments and events were Doug put you all on a pedestal, cause that's where he wanted you to be. It's those happy moments, memories, spontaneous 'let's do this' that will help you as you struggle to gain the strength you require. You too I'm sure feel blessed, honored and lucky to have become a part of Dougs life. Doug will always want you to keep feeling that way, and it'll be those feelings and memories that'll help you overcome this most difficult time. If there's ever a hug you need cause you see something that brings back one of those memories and you need to share it, ask away.

Shannon, Jordan and Connor, Mike and I send our love, thoughts, prayers and sincere condolences to you all. May Doug rest in all eternity.

Shannon, Jordan and Connor our hearts and prayers go out to you with the loss of Doug. Doug was a friend and always embodied fairness, honesty and decency. In a world where so manny are just looking for the next deal Doug always made sure that the people came first and always. Time may not heal this wound but time will dull the pain. Celebrate the life that was Doug and remember not only the times he made you laugh but also the times he made you mad and cherish those memories.

We are so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. We have been loyal customers and subdivision neighbours (up on Maple Grove Lane) for all the years we have lived here, and will miss waving at or chatting with Doug as he walked the dog or dogs up to the top of the hill. Prayers to you and your family in this time of loss.
