Peacefully, on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Hannah Walker Place, Owen Sound, in her 98th year. Betty, loving wife of the late Garnet Thomas. Beloved mother of Walter and his wife Sandra, and Eric and his wife Ann. Proud Grandma of Kirk, Matthew (Rachael), and Laura (Philip) Donohue all of Indiana, and Evan (Jessica) of Walkerton. Great Grandma of nine. Predeceased by her sisters Isabella Wilkins, and Janet Wiesner of New York State.
Betty was born in Edinburgh Scotland on August 29, 1924, eldest daughter of Walter F.R. Leitch and Louisa Dapratto Center. She married LAC Garnet T. Heathers (RCAF) on May 29, 1945 in Restalrig Parish Church, Edinburgh. She later joined Garnet in Canada in March 1946. They lived for a time in Wiarton. In April 1947, they moved to North Keppel (Big Bay) where they farmed until 1973. After selling their farms, they moved to East Linton. Betty continued to work as a medical secretary in Owen Sound. She was active in both North Keppel and Sarawak United Churches. She did volunteer work and sang in the Georgian Bay Chorus.

Friends will be received on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 11:00am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:30am at the Tannahill Funeral Home, 1178 4th Ave West, Owen Sound, 519-376-3710. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sarawak Township.
Memorial donations to the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce – Chapman House Hospice or the Owen Sound Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
