Mea (Nielen) Emonts

Bartholomina Christina Emonts (nee Nielen) was born April 11, 1929 in Beugen, The Netherlands and died on her 93rd birthday, April 11, 2022 in Malden, The Netherlands.

Mea was predeceased by her husband William and 2 sons, Joe and Lambert. She is survived by her son, Gary and his wife Karen of Chatsworth and her daughter, Mathilly and her husband Wil of Malden. Mea is also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother in The Netherlands and by 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren in Canada and The Netherlands.

Mea lived about 40 years in Owen Sound and volunteered and sang in the choir at St. Mary’s Church for many years. She was a very talented seamstress and loved all types of needlecraft but her favorite was always dressmaking from scratch. Mea and her husband Bill put on many miles travelling in their motorhome and after Bill died she decided to return to The Netherlands.

Mea’s body has come back to Canada where she will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A Funeral Mass for Mea will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Mary’s and the Missions Catholic Parish, 554 15th Street East, Owen Sound. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Owen Sound with a luncheon to follow at St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
