Toshio "Stan" Takahashi

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Toshio “Stan” Takahashi on July 7, 2021, during his 96th year of physical life.  He was the loving and devoted husband to Akiye “May” Takahashi (nee Kodama); caring and proud father to Wayne (Barbara), Elaine, Paul and Susan (Ken), grandfather to Kiyomi and Shane (Heidi), and affectionately known as Jichan to great granddaughters Sophia and Aaliyah.  Brother to Kiyoko (Mits) Yamada and predeceased brothers Eita, Hideo (Fumiko) and Akira (Kathleen) and sisters Kazuko (Kaoru) Atagi, Fumiko (Kiyoshi) Tsubouchi and Haruko (Toshio) Bando.  Youngest son to Chozo and Suga Takahashi of Shiga, Japan.  Dad will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

Although born in Britannia Beach, British Columbia, Dad would talk about growing up in Vancouver, his internment in Lemon Creek with his mother and sisters during the war and being reunited with his brothers after the war.  Both Dad and Mom would reminisce about how they met in Toronto and became inseparable.  They lived an active life through the church, ballroom dancing on Friday nights at the Westend Social Club and family trips both abroad and Canada coast-to-coast.

Dad will be fondly remembered for his corny jokes, sweet tooth (particularly for ice cream), his thirst to understand all things and, in particular, for his love of his family and friends.

The family would like to thank the surgical staff of Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound who tended to Dad in his final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers or Koden, donations may be made in memory of Dad to the Toronto Buddhist Church.
